Wesley Distribution Ministry

¨• That Wesley Distribution Ministry Delivers?  We presently have 3 volunteers who deliver to 20 families or individuals each month!

• That in June we had a total  of 77 volunteers helping  to prepare for the distribution or helping at the Saturday distribution - a record!

• That we served 519 families June 21st with help from UWF and PEO Chapter NQ?

• That so far in 2025 we have received donations from Bloomington Rotary ($500 plus products), Pub Rotary Club ($5000 in products), DAR (Products), PEO Chapter NQ (Products), Women to Women Giving Circle ($5000 grant), Prayer Shawl Fund ($1000), Finance Group in Bloomington ($500), A Church Family ($12,000) and many, many individual donations of money and products?

• That we are spending an average of $5500 each month to purchase most needed products (most from a non-profit wholesaler?

• That we have a lady from Heyworth who gives us farm fresh eggs each month for the paper distribution?  We don’t need egg cartons at this time!!

• That we accept opened packages of diapers and hygiene items?

• That Pat King makes new born baby layettes for us to give away each month?

• That New Covenant Community gives us money to purchase facial tissue each month?

• That we ask for a photo ID of each person picking up at the paper distribution?

• That monthly, we work with Unit 5 and District 87 Schools, Carle Hospital, Social Service Agencies in Blm-Nor, the City of Bloomington and McLean County Health Center to give them information regarding WDM for them to share with their families in need?  Many of these organizations ask us to put informational flyers in our bags from time to time.

That we recycle all the cardboard and plastic our products come in every month?

• That we serve around 50 of our neighbors who walk to Wesley West with babies in strollers, assisted by canes, scooters or walkers?

• That one of our neighbors, Greg, lives in the apartment building across the street and always asks for things for his neighbors, unable to even walk across the street?

• That we have Spanish translators at each distribution to assist our Hispanic guests who speak little or no English?

Wesley Distribution Ministry is so many things to our congregation, our volunteers, civic groups, local Philanthropy groups, individuals who hear about us and then help, and our guests who need our help. We’ve a story to tell to our community that needs telling.  You have contacts, perhaps fellow workers, extended family, your dentist and doctor, your neighbors.....talk about WDM and how vital our ministry is, how we gave away 500 packages of diapers in May, that we welcome all people into our fold.

One person asked me if they could volunteer even though they were Catholic.  Another asked if we accept LGBTQ people.  Wesley is a fully affirming and inclusive church.  We welcome all people! Let people know, tell them our story.

To volunteer for Wesley’s Distribution Ministry, contact Karen Daudelin at daudelinkp@gmail.com.

Thank you for your continued support of this ministry that allows those of us with enough to give to those who have so little.
