PLARN Weaving!
The Missions Committee introduced the Sleeping Mat Project in 2024 and the response has been strong. The church has overwhelmingly responded with saving clean, used plastic shopping bags to make “plarn” or plastic yarn and weaving it into sleeping mats. The mats are used for those who need a barrier between them and the ground - for disaster relief, for those who are homeless, and for those who need temporary sleeping arrangements.
We are still accepting clean, flattened plastic shopping bags for making plarn sleeping mats. Please leave them the bin in the hallway across from the church library. If you are interested in working on weaving sleeping mats (or cutting plarn), we would love to have you join us the second and fourth Fridays of each month in the conference room at 9:30-11:30 a.m. Come for as little or much time that you can!
