We nurture student musicianship, build confidence, and encourage artistic expression through developmentally appropriate vocal instruction and instrumental expression. The Children's Choirs provide an ensemble experience that allows students to develop musically as individuals while contributing to the joy and artistry of singing together with their Wesley UMC peers.
We believe that students of varying ages can learn from each other by leading and working together to create something beyond the individual. We have a strong group of leadership which is directed by Brenna Martin.
(Three and Four-year-olds)
The Cherub Choir are our youngest musicians at Wesley! As a part of Nursery/Young Child programming, children ages 3 (by September 1) through first grade will meet Wednesdays with Miss. Brenna and Miss. Liz outside in the greenspace behind the donut room from 6:15-6:45pm on Wednesday nights starting August 18th. Children who are age two and older are required to wear a mask outside for Cherub Choir practice. Parents of children in Cherub Choir are more than welcome to participate with us, and will also be asked to mask. This year Cherub Choir will be under the direction of Director of Music Ministry, Brenna Martin. We can’t wait to sing together! For more information, please contact Brenna Martin.
(Second Grade - Fifth Grade)
Wesley Singers is the vocal choir for second through fifth graders. They will meet on Wednesdays from 6:50-7:20pm downstairs in Room 28 with Miss. Brenna and Miss. Kathi. Children who participate in Wesley Singers will be asked to wear a mask during rehearsal time. Wesley Singers will sing once a month at one the Sunday morning worship services starting later in the fall (being mindful of the delta variant and the ongoing covid-19 pandemic). They also stage and perform a Christmas or spring musical annually. Wesley Singers will be under the direction of Director of Music Ministry, Brenna Martin. We can’t wait to sing together again this fall! For more information, please contact Brenna Martin.
Chimes of Glory
(Third Grade - Fifth Grade)
Hand held choir chimes are rung similar to handbells. The Chimes of Glory is open to students in 3rd through 5th grades and offers beginning ringing techniques. The choir rings monthly in one of the Sunday morning worship services. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:50pm in the Chapel. The Chimes of Glory are under the direction of Gail Welk.
